hi older guy. I just retired and have more time than I can handle.always wanted to play but never a spare moment to do it so now its time. I would like to know what type of guitar I should start out on,as I have short fingers for a grown man,no miget mind you but shorter than most. I love both electric and acoustic.

This is the best bang for the buck. Teaches every step needed and does it in a way that retaining it is easy. And also easy to go back and redo some lessons for practice.

Well worth it.

Hi Bill,

Gotta keep busy!

Baby Taylor is a good option, also you might consider a parlor guitar, which is a more compact version. Taylor also has these options:

Taylor GS Mini Reduced Scale
http://www.amazon.com/Taylor-Guitars-GS-Mini-Symphony/dp/B003P2V9OG

Taylor Travel/Small Body guitars
http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/acoustic/category/travelsmall-body

It's great that you have 5 stores nearby, that way you can go in and test-drive them in person. So many ma and pa music stores are closing down and you just get left with the bigger corporation stores like Guitar Center.

hey Richie,

Wow, I can only imagine what that experience must have been like for you. It's good that you found something to keep your spirits up and press on. (and to give you something to do!)

A strap is a good way to go, it keeps the guitar close to your chest and draws your arms and hands in a little closer for easy movement around the guitar. (That's why you'll see a lot of jazz guys or super-shredders with the guitar strung high.)

I have some more free lessons here as well: http://www.guitartricks.com/channel/

They are shorter and not part of a course, but it gives you more to check out while you look around. :)

If you're just starting out, our Core Learning System will give you everything you need to know to play guitar, even if you never have before. It's really awesome!
