New Guitar or New Amp?
I've been playing for 2 1/2 years, I play an Epiphone Les Paul Studio through a crybaby wah into a Marshall MG50. I like my setup and I like the sound. I can't decide whether I should get a 15-30 watt tube amp, I was looking at a Laney or a Fender, or if I should get an Epiphone Dot, or another 335 styled guitar. I was also wondering if I should get some new effects instead, I've wanted a delay and a phaser for a while now. So whats some advice for what to get?

related to how you'd like to modify your sound?
What do you sound like now.. and what do you want to sound more like?

Here's the best advice I can give you. Buy the best guitar you can afford, since most of the time, you'll plug into the house amp, or directly through the board nowadays...
A ****ty guitar through a awesome amp sounds ****ty... An awesome guitar through a ****ty amp sounds like a great guitar amplified...

Or get an amp that goes to eleven. Johnny RAMONE once said that loud enough, all guitars sound alike...

I just read your original post, and what stands out is the sentence "I like my setup and I like my sound." So what needs changing?
If you just need to be louder, you should look at a mic to send your sound to the PA mix. I've been harping on this approach for quite a while, now. It works!

No way. I've changed my mind Lordy, instead of advocating small amps I'm going to say "Buy thirteen Marshall stacks, patch them through a couple of Mesa Boogies etc etc". Then, I'll be the only guitarist able to hear, so I might get some gigs!
"Dozens of people spontaneously combust each year, it's just not that widely reported".

I'm an old (58) guy who's still learning. I've traded up over the past couple of years from a Tele with a cheap Crate amp to a Gibson Les Paul Classic and a cheap (used) Crate VC131 30 watt tube amp with a Very-Tone Dog effects box. Still not happy with my learning progress until I just bought a new Fender CyberTwin amp. Figured the cost of it beat a decent Fender or Marshall tube amp plus all the effects necessary to get a particular sound. It seems to be working. At least I think I can get the sound of something I can recognize.
