Anybody with some feedback would be most welcome. I'm trying to learn Lee Wanner's lesson on Poison's Nothing but a good time. Main solo section 2 which is a pentatonic up and down sequence. Is it really possible to master this? I have been trying and trying. I can do it slowly perfectly like it's being taught, but up to speed seems tremendously fast. I can't tell if he is picking all the strings because when he does it slow, he is picking every note. When it's up to speed I can't tell it he's hammering and pulling off. It seems so fast to be able to pick each string. I try hammering and pulling off but just sounds sooo bad. I'm sure this kind of sequence is used in many songs, so please give me your feedback as to how you mastered the speed in an up and down pentatonic shred. At this point it seems I will never be able to have this kind of speed. But I will keep on trying! Thanks.

Yes, it's possible. But, depending upon how much skill you bring to the table, it will take time. :)

These tutorials are aimed precisely at that technique: sequencing scale pattern in 3s & 4s on 2 adjacent strings, 3 notes per string.

This lesson in William Tell Overture has that pattern systemically in two different octaves. Great for practicing!

I do this sort of thing every day at least once up & down. Until you do this sort of thing systemically & consistently it is very difficult to just expect to be able to shred it out on demand. :)

You can pick every note, or pull-off, hammer-on when possible. Either way is fine. But, I encourage students to at least practice it by playing it slowly, in time while picking every note.

That is the best way to automate it. Best of success with it! Let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the input Chris! I will apply these tutorials to my routine and I will eventually master this. I am determined to get to that skill level no matter how long it takes. :)
