I am a drummer who wants to play other instruments, like GUITAR and keyboard, then later pick up on brass and woodwinds. Ambitious I know, but all I have to do is set a goal I guess... Anyway, as a beginner guitar so far has been truly difficult to grasp. But I will keep pushing forward. Anyone else find this instrument to be a bit intimidating to learn? Just curious... might need some encouragement from time to time

hi JCDavis,
I heard the same thing from many. It seems like drums to guitar might be a rough transition because the coordination is so different. But I think if you stick with guitar you'll break away from the hurdles that affect you now.
The bonus is, once you get over the mechanics of playing guitar you've got all that drum rhythmical knowledge that you can apply to guitar. I've noticed drummers really understand phrasing well and seem to excel at other instruments (Dave Grohl, Steven Tyler, Phil Collins come to mind)

Hi JC,
If it makes you feel any better, I had the exact opposite experience.
As an experienced guitar player, I thought it might be fun to learn drums.
Ouch!!! It was SO difficult for me!!
Keep us posted - we're happy to keep encouraging you and helping you along.
Best- Lisa
