hello all. i have an ibanez rg series guitar. i love it too. i've replaced just about everything on it and it's become my most fav guitar on the planet. but.....there is a chip in it and the color is black. but being such a dark color the chip shows up pretty well. what can i do to repair it? i was thinking of using some wood glue and sawdust to make a wood paste and then shape it after.

any opinions would help. thanks.

Is it a chip in the paint, or in the actual wood of the guitar? It sounds pretty deep if you are considering making a woodchip paste. I've got the odd chip in my strat's paint job, and while I would prefer them not to be there, I figure it's a bigger hassle to get them fixed than is really worth it. Is it entirely necessary to have a perfect looking guitar, because eventually guitars just get a bit worn.

well it's not entirely needed that it look perfect. matter of fact i have a piece of grey duct tape over it about square inch in diameter. so i'm prob just worried about the wood it's self being succeptable to moisture or anything like that.

Thats a big "chip", sounds like a good place to put a decal, sticker or another knob, seriously if you do want to try to repair it, you'll need to find out what kind of finish is on the guitar, acrylic laq., epoxy, catylized , water base laq. etc, some are easy to repair, some are just about impossible, I don't know what Ibanez uses, if you find out, get back to me OK?
