Hello: My name is Dawn and I joined guitar tricks a bit ago after a recommendation from a friend when I inquired about guitar instructors in a facebook post. I have always loved guitar music and have wanted to play most of my life. My only music background was from 5-12th grade on clarinet. This was an instrument an aunt gave me that she bought at a yards sale. My grandmother was a piano player and I am planning on taking lessons in piano as well. I had shopped for the last year for my first guitar and finally stopped procrastinating on a decision when my mother died last month. At 44 I decided it was time to start tackling the bucket list that included acoustic guitar. I didnt realize how much focusing my energy into music would really help me cope with the loss of my mom in a positive way. I really am loving this site.

You'll find in this group that there are many of us "older" ones who are embarking on new adventures or trying to fulfill those kid dreams of playing in a band......the forum is full of us :) Welcome and have fun!

Hi Dawn, Mike here. I just wanted to tell you that I am 78 and just starting the blues. I found that age is just a way to slow the body down. Memory , reflects, and retention is a little slow but I am working on it. Don't give up.

Hi Dawn Rae,
I'm an award-winning writer working on an article for a national women's magazine about women discovering new hobbies/passions after age 35. Your story is inspiring, and I'd love to interview you. Please let me know if you are interested, and I can give you my credentials and more details. Thanks!
