Hi,

Anybody know how the "wah" effect to Stevie Wonder's, "Superstition" is done? Is it wah?

This guy says it is a standard profile using his Tonelab :

Stevie's original song via YouTube:

I have a Gibson Les Paul Studio guitar with a Boss ME-50 stomp box and its wah-wah pedal.

Is this effect wah? Or is it something else? What do I need to get to accomplish this sound effect?

Heard this on an oldies' radio station the other day and hence my quest.

Thanks for any help or insight as how this is done.

Talking to myself again...

It is not guitar initially. It is a clavinet and maybe a Mu-tron autowah or Electro-Harmonix Mini Q-tron. My Google research says this tune is Funk.

This link, sounds, get a bit crazy.

Interesting anyway and I bet it can be mimicked using a guitar and effects pedals.

An "envelope follower" or "envelope filter" is also mentioned. As well as a compressor and a wah-wah pedal.

More links later.

I am sure somebody here to GuitarTricks can elaborate more, concerning this how-to, than my feeble efforts.

And maybe this needs to be posted in the more advanced forums, for members only, maybe with a Funk style instructor.
