Hi,

Great forum, I'm surprised at how much of the discussion here is both substantive and practical.

Anyways, as a non-musician there is a language barrier keeping me from fully absorbing much of the concepts relating to music theory. My concept of a scale hasn't evolved past "a series of notes that consistently increase in frequency". To me, most of the music theory posts sound like excerpts from the Illiad.

Is there any basic material you could suggest that covers some of the theoretical fundamentals of music? I just need to have enough knowledge to grok the foundational stuff so that I can associate the nomenclature to things I actually understand.

Thanks !

Hey there.

Your tag looks like you have full access, have you started with the guitar tutorials yet? Starting with Guitar Fundamentals 1?

If you really want to sink in the theory quickly and efficiently, do the guitar fundementals videos here (in the core learning system) and on the side read a book on theory of music applied to guitar.
Keep it by your bed and read 2 or 3 page (or more, depends on how tired you are :)) before sleeping. Make sure you choose a book that as exercise in it. It will help you remember what you learn better.
What ever you do, always remember to go try it on your guitar when you have time.
