Anyways, as a non-musician there is a language barrier keeping me from fully absorbing much of the concepts relating to music theory. My concept of a scale hasn't evolved past "a series of notes that consistently increase in frequency". To me, most of the music theory posts sound like excerpts from the Illiad.

Is there any basic material you could suggest that covers some of the theoretical fundamentals of music? I just need to have enough knowledge to grok the foundational stuff so that I can associate the nomenclature to things I actually understand.

Thanks !
