Not really a right and wrong answer to this question. More personal feel. Why do you like it? Do you try to play/sing like your favourite music, or do you just enjoy it? Would you say they are your 'influences', or do you play your own style?

I really lovee country.
why?
I can't have just one answer to that - there are a whole ton of reasons.
my number one reason is probably because country's all about the simple life, what matters the most, and why it's important to love everything while you have it.

country is the kind of music you listen to when you wanna run through a field barefoot, or stand by the ocean, or cruise down the highway with the top down. country can apply to all situations, emotions, and persons. it's free and wild, fun, inspiring, truthful, expressive, and everything we need to be. Cause you can't really run through a field listening to eighties rock, can you? and you can't stand by the ocean and listen to opera- it just doesnt fit.

So i love country because it matches my personality and the things i take joy in - like being barefoot and standing by the ocean. simple as that. and when i write songs, or play music, i usually take the styles of my favorite country artists and make my own style out of it. All my favorite bands and artists are big influences to me, and they inspire me to express myself and make my own style out of theirs, i guess. their songs are more than just music to me; their songs are like a soundtrack to my life.

sorry, this was a long reply, but i hope it was worth reading.

Awesome, Josette. I personally go for like a soft sort of alternative rock. 'Cos I like the subtlety of how the music and vocals is arranged, or 'layered', as they say. Listening to it, it feels genuine, and like a good amount of thought has gone into it. Same as you, it seems like there's a personality match going on, as well.

I listen to Metal...not exclusively but mainly.

why?
Too many reasons!!!

Got into metal and rock at a young age and I don't think it's a genre you can be casually into like some others. I was hooked and still am! (many years later!)

That said I still have to be in the right mood to rock! No good listening to Slayer when you're trying to wind down after a hard day teaching or driving through the countryside!

All the stuff I write and play is based around metal and it's many sub genres though.
I prefer stuff with some dynamics in it and good melodies, phrasing and tasteful playing. Not just speed and shredding for the sake of it! I love a good, memorable riff or breakdown and some meaningful lyrics.

There ya go!

That's all really cool how each of us relates to our own preferred music. I guess everyone's favorite music matches their personalities, including what they like to do and how they are emotionally. It's interesting how it all works and how different music expresses different people.
