Depends what kind of guitar and what kind of metal. Jackson and Dean are both pretty much aimed at that. Schecter is good too, but out of those 3 I'd go with Jackson or Dean.

When you say you have a choice, are you talking about specific guitars, or just the brands themselves?

Do you have a price in mind that you want to spend? Might narrow down recommendations. Also, what kind of metal do you play? What bands are you into?

For Jackson there is:
There are a few "Dinky" models to choose from as well as Rhoads and King V styles the ones I list below are the most expensive in your price range.
RR3 Rhoads (Personally I like the Rhoads style best for looks)
WRXT Warrior
KVX10 King V
PDX Demmelition King V

Dean Guitars:
Some Razorback models
I think a Dave Mustaine model
Dime-O-Flame
Dime Shadow ML

When I think of Dean I think of a heavier sound like Pantera. Jackson is good for thrash stuff like Megadeth. Both brands can do anything though and are known for their ability to play metal. It's best to just go to the shop and try out every guitar you are able to. The one you feel most comfortable with is the one for you. It's different for everyone.

You can't really go wrong with anything from those 2 brands. Keep in mind that with V guitars it is sometimes really annoying to sit and play them. Standing is your best bet. So again, take comfort into consideration.

Don't buy a guitar on your next trip to the store. Go, try them out, write down the names of the ones you like and go home and research them online. Just Google for reviews and stuff to give you a better idea of that guitar and what people say about it.

Also keep in mind that the guitar itself is just 1 part of the sound you get. Your amp is what is going to decide what that guitar will sound like in the end.

I was actually going to buy a Vyper before I settled on a Valveking. It's a cool modeling amp and you have a lot of customization. You should be able to get a sound that you like out of it.

Did you get the one of the Sanpera foot pedals?

EDIT: OH! And don't forget to try the guitars ON a Vyper if you can. Preferably the same kind you own. That way you know exactly what you can do with it and what it will be like if you bought it. If they don't have a Vyper, try something similar to the sound of a Vyper. Just don't test on some cheap because obviously it won't sound too good. And just because I didn't talk about Schecter as much, doesn't mean it isn't good. You may try one and like it a lot so consider it too.

Anything within the same price range should be good. Other Peavey amps and such. Just ask the sales person if they have something with a similar sound and he should let you know.

Don't know too much about that one, or effects pedals in general. Might want to make another thread and see if anyone else can give you any info on it. From what I'm seeing it's gotten good reviews from people though.
