Maybe this is a stupid question, but I am thinking about buying an Epiphone Flying V, and I was wondering if it is possible to sit and play the guitar, or do you stand when playing it?

You can sit and play the guitar, it will be a bit uncomfortable at first but youll get acustomed to it. You will have to use a strap while playing, but you should always use one to prevent any accidents...
If you look at the flying v model, youll see underneath the side of the guitar, where it would be resting if you were playing it sitting down, a type of "sanding paper"?? that prevents slipping due to the guitars shape...
nonetheless that guitar was made to be played standing up, and on a personal note, I think that is one of the coolest visual models I have seen on electric guitars...

all u have to do is put the bottom part of the V underneath the right side of your leg if your right handed and the top of the V above your right leg, thats the best way i can describe hope it makes sense

I think you'll find that there's a small strip of knobby rubber set into the bottom edge of the lower 'wing'. This gives enough friction against your leg to make it stay put.

My Odyssey V doesn't have this feature, so I play it the way guitargod420 describes. It does take away some of the coolness of playing a [b]V[/i]! :D

maybe you can buy a part that is stock on the headless steinbergers, you just unfold a plastic stuff, and now you can rest it on your leg...

i have and play constantly a Jackson Rhoads V. i usually stand up to play it but i do sit down a lot. you will have to sit on the egde of something. what you do is take the vertex of the v and place it on the inner part of your right thigh. it is important to have the strap on because the strap will hold up the neck so you rother hand won't have to and will allow it to move freely. oh and when you do this, make sure you sit up straight, don't slouch.
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.
