I think you'll find that there's a small strip of knobby rubber set into the bottom edge of the lower 'wing'. This gives enough friction against your leg to make it stay put.

My Odyssey V doesn't have this feature, so I play it the way guitargod420 describes. It does take away some of the coolness of playing a [b]V[/i]! :D
