I haven't done any recording in awhile and was wondering if anyone knew what program I should use?

I had used Cool Edit Pro 2.0 for years but it does not work well with windows 7. Anyone have any info on this subject? Should I use cakewalk or sonar? What is the closest program to Cool edit?

Thanks in advance for your replies and expertise

Hi MTIBBITTS
I don't have any experience with any of those, but what i do use is Reaper. It's free to try and inexpensive to buy. Has WAY more power than I will probably ever use for me humble little recordings.

Cubase 5 is good. Sonar is good. Pro Tools is good. The software doesnt reallymatter its how you use it. I dont know Cool Edit but those are some other options. I know Audacity is free too.

I've tried Cool Edit before. It was ok, but I think Cubase, Reaper, and Pro Tools are far superior options. I'm partial to Pro Tools myself.

I use Mixcraft because it's very user friendly, doesn't cost an arm and a leg, makes good recordings and has good support..apart from that it's rubbish! :)

Check out some recordings I've done literally straight out of the box. Recently had one played on the radio too so the quality is pretty good:
