Hi,
I dont know even the basic of guitar. I would like to learn it.
So will this site be helpful? I mean as I am a complete beginer i dont know how this site can help me out!
I have two options here!
1. goto an actual teacher
2. Buy a member ship in this website.

Which will be good.
I now a real teacher will be better, but in my case time is not flexible so it would be a last resort! But i want to learn guitar!
And since i dont hv any actual exp with guitar, i would like you guys to tell me which guitar i need to buy an all, yes i am that noob here!

Thanks!

Well yeah the site is great for that. When you start Guitar Fundamentals 1 and 2 you don't require any previous knowledge. You can just start off, and since time isn't a flexible factor this would be a good choice.

Remember though that it is very important that you keep motivating yourself. If you know you won't get far when you don't have somebody to mentor/coach you like an actual guitar teacher would, then you shouldn't choose this option. Then I would really suggest to try and get a flexible guitar teacher in that case.

But for now, welcome to the website, and try to see what kind of person you are to see if this website and its learning system fit you.

You can always try a free 14 day trial and start of with the Guitar Fundamentals in the core learning system anyway. Go to http://www.guitartricks.com/trial/

Your most welcome ;-)

And as second to your question: Which guitar should I buy ?

That's a really common question with a really common answer. First of all, determine which music you wanna play. Do you want to play acoustic songs or electric songs ? If you wanna play both it is preferable to buy an electric since you can play acoustic songs on electric but you might not on acoustic due to rock effects and so.

Secondly: My word of advice, GO TO A GUITAR SHOP. I know this sounds like a very general answer but you should let yourself get informed by a shop owner and make him play for you some things. Then you can decide the factors for yourselfs. What do I seek in a guitar ? Does the tone sound good to my ears, does it look good, and MOST IMPORTANT, do I feel comfortable holding it aka can I easily get my fingers around the guitar at any place. When you have short arms for example it might be difficult to actually go to the upper part of the neck. You should keep those things in mind, but eventually it is your choice to make to decide what things are important to you. We can't give you any advice on which guitar to buy ;-)

Perhaps brandwise it could, like Yamaha guitar are solid beginner guitars, but my advice would be to go with something more expensive from around $400 dollar IF YOU ARE REALLY SERIOUS AND KNOW WHEN PLAYING GUITAR IS SOMETHING FOR YOU AND YOU WILL CONTINUE PLAYING FOR YEARS. If that would be the case a bit more expensive instrument would be the right choice in my opinion.

So... hope that helps you a bit :-)

Hi,

Welcome to the site. I've been a paying customer here for two years and a couple of months. I had a bit of knowledge but very little. Some music theory. I had been in Jr. high and high school band when I was in my teens. Plus I plunked around on a bass guitar for a couple years. Never took it serious, never got anywhere either. Sold it when I was in college because I needed the money.

Fast forward some 20+ years. All those years I really wanted to learn to play guitar but was always too intimidated to pick it up and try. Finally convinced myself that I had nothing to loose. Got a guitar, started searching around the internet for guitar stuff, ran across this website. Without a doubt, best internet surfing I'd ever done.

The instructors are professional, knowledgeable accessible via the forum, the video library is extensible and they have created paths for you too chose from to help guide you on your journey.

It's a funny thing (well, kinda sad really), but I will go a couple months at a time without watching a single lesson, but, I still won't cancel my subscription. That's how much I enjoy and learn from this site.

Good luck, make the most out of it. And remember, you get out what you put in!!!

I just started out on the guitar as of Christmas. I started out on the core learning system and just followed the path until I had to kick out and buy the membership. In MY honest opinion, it's the best teaching aid you can get your hands on! I've been finding myself going back and forth thru the tutorials and practicing some things from the beginning and picking up new things ahead of myself. (I know I shouldn't look too far ahead, but, I need to know what stuff I am in for ) Today I just finished up the Metal For Beginners II and found myself kicking out the Clean Epic Starts in no time. Now if I can just get my fat fingers to get my timing down on the major chords :D
As for the kicking out for a guitar... I am about as cheap as they come. If you can find yourself a decent starter for just learning on.. that would be the way to go (That's EXACTLY how I did). I am now looking at getting myself in to some money items since I am actually picking up some songs and getting some riffs down. An acoustic and a clean Strat just doesn't quite get that AC/DC or Black Sabbath Sound that I want.. sooooo here comes some pedals and another guitar :D
Look at the instructors here and see what guitar they are teaching you on and find a variant of theirs. Christopher Schlegel (Sorry if I misspelled it Chris) Uses a Stratocaster for the core learning system so I made sure that I was going to get my sounds like his and bought a Strat type. I went to a pawn shop and picked out a guitar and an amp for under $120... The Les Paul I am looking at isn't anywhere NEAR that cheap :P

Yes, this site is very helpful, even if you don't buy the full membership. Also, if you are looking for another website, check out JamPlay.com It offers live lessons from instructors and you can personalize your own page, but it's really expensive!!! good luck. :) :)
