Can we have everything louder than everything else???
recording question...
I just bought a software cd called magix audio/studio and I'm trying to figure out how do you convert a vip file to wav/mp3 so it can be burned on a cd? Any input would be greatly appreciated

I don't know the program, but basically, when I work with cubase, I have to get out of the computer to get back in and burn CDs.
To do so, I use a minidisc recorder, to stay in digital world, and to get less quality loss. Actually, it adds some EQ that I appreciate.
I record tha song (I just play the cubase file) than get back in and record the minidisc with cool edit...

I figured with Cubase all you'd have to do is export the file as a stereo MP3 or Aiff file.
Isn't there any sort of mastering software available cause it seems kinda dumb to have to send your mix to an outboard recorder and then bring it back into the computer again.

i always thought you had to download it onto wav. , then burn it onto a cd on wav to have the same quality.
and if you burn it on mp3, the swoosh factor doesnt allow it to be re-formatted to wav.
thats just what i have heard

That is correct, if you wish to retain the pure quality of your audio file you don't want to export to MP3 and use that file. MP3 is a lossy compression, once its compressed you can turn it back into .wav, but only at the same sound quality of the MP3. It isn't like a .zip file where you can compress it, decompress it and all the data remains the same.
So, if you want a small file to send to a friend online, its fine to convert to MP3 to keep size down, but if you want to keep your quality keep it in wav format, which can be burned on a CD and ripped back off it again and keep the same quality.

No dude, you would need the original reocrdings to do this. Or the .all files the artist made. But I don't think it exists...

I don't know about "vip" files, but some of the jukebox type music programs ( WINAMP ) will let you to reformat
