Where is the C Note on the 3rd G string?

I'm a beginner and just started the Guitar Fundamentals course, Level 1.
Having arrived at the 2nd, 3rd string an 4th string, I'm getting a bit confused:

2rd string:
Open =B, 1st Fret=C, 3rd=D, 5th Fret=E
The Next string is the 3th string which starts (Open) as a G Note
so...I'm missing the F Note

Simple question, where is the F note on the 2nd string?

and the same problem with the 3rd string:

Open =G, 2nd Fret=A, 4th Fret=B
The Next string is the 4th string which starts (Open) as a D Note
so...I'm missing the C Note

Returning to the 2nd string:
If I follow logic, I would say 7th Fret=F, but that doesn't sound right when playing the EFG sequence over the 2nd and 3rd string.
The 6th Fret on the 2nd string however seems to fit in better in this EFG note sequence
So I suspect that the 6th Fret represents the F note on the 2nd string, but this note is only 1 Fret further and not 2 Frets???

Hi Ben.. Welcome to GT
When you open the second link that Hunter posted, you may want to print it out..
You will learn the whole fret board... There are tips on how to locating the frets that you will eventually learn..
It sounds like you may have skipped ahead on your tutorial.. It's been awhile since I have gone through fundamentals 1..
If you look at the diagram on the second link you will see that E-F and B-C have no sharps/flats...This is carried out along the rest of the fret board..
One tip I may sugest is to learn how to use the search tool..also the history and bookmarks.. they all can save you a lot of time.. Also like Hunter mentioned is use the web...
Don't forget you can ask question to the instructor who doing the tutorial you are working on.. Go to "Full Access Subscriber Forums " and click on that instructor..

The F note is a half step up from E, so it would be in the 6th fret on the 2nd string.

The C note is a half step up from B, so it's in the 5th fret on the 3rd string.

If you add the notes in between, it may be easier to remember. I call it the musical alphabet, and here it is starting with the open E.

E F F# G G# A A# B C C# D D# E

This spans an octave, and works the same no matter where you start. Just remember that from B it goes to C, and from E it goes to F. A half step is one fret on the guitar, and this can be very helpful when learning scales.

The C notes are usually tucked into the G string right at about the stripper's hip. Hope that helps.

Or you can go to a Music store and buy a poster that has the entire fretboard labeled along with alot of other useful information. Sometimes you just need to go "Old School". Plus its a nice decoration for your room or if your single you can frame it to impress the ladies. Ha.

Surely they found this in a search, so hopefully they found the info they needed. My reply to this thread was probably my first post in 2011, and I was surprised they dug it up too, lol.
