It's unusually cold in Denmark this year, and it makes practicing hard! >_<

It seems that I cannot get my fingers warmed up no matter how long time I warm up with scales, legato, SPIDER-excercises, chords or anything.
No matter how hard I try, my fingers are just cold and dry, which also makes me drop my pick frequently 'cause there is no resistance on my fingertips.

I try to wash my hands in hot water, turn the heat up all the way in my room and close all the doors but nothing seems to work. :S

Any tips or tricks? :S

I know the feeling. I've got the central heating on virtually all day, and a big heater unit blowing in my room and it's still only just bareable D:

Try some fingerless gloves, might help.

Do you use a humidifier or vaporizer to put moisture in the air? Hand lotion?
Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week.

Warm your hands by heating a smooth stone, or using a damp towel after heating it in the microwave f/a few seconds. Take care not to scald yourself! On damp dried hands, use a little cooking or olive oil. This oil treatment feels great if you also wrap your hands in the heated towel. (note: try to keep your fretting fingertips out of the oil to keep the calouses firm). Peace.

Thanks for the tips guys!
I'll try using some hand lotion for my right hand. :P

I spoke to my mother about my hands being cold and she said that it might be my blood circulation, so I will have to spend more time on the treadmill in the gym, when I'm up there. :)

Maybe try rubbing your hands together? That causes friction, which builds up heat in your hands :)

Hi Palsby,

You might ask Anders in his forum. He's from Denmark and was just there this winter, I'll be he's got some good tips!

Working out might help a little and maybe getting a space heater. I know what you mean sometimes my practice room gets cold so it is hard to get your hands warmed up. I usually will just do some physical exercise for a few minutes then practice.

Well I'm going to say this . You can make fun if you wont to . Put on a hat . Helps with cold feet also . I also have a very light fleece sweater if it is real cool in the basement where I play. Hope this helps .
