First time Van Halen heard Allan HOLDSWORTH, that's what he said...
Which guitarist made you turn your head around while listening to him?
I have to admit I was floored when I first heard Tom MORELLO's solo in "killing in the name". Of course, I didn't know whammy pedals back then, so I thought this guy had total control over his slide and that he tremolo picked it while perfectly in tune... Silly me!
Another one was Ron THAL solo in 'Fistilous feathers' on his debut album. You can hear it there:

You'll get why I went 'huh???'
Huh?? How did he do that??

oh, I managed to download it (gave up on streaming it)...
cool, but it sounds more like studio production/ tweeking/ playing about, than a style of play... it's cool none the less...
the idea of reversing a sample and then putting reverb on it, and finally reversing it, has been around for a while hasn't it? they do this a lot on Bjork stuff dont they? it sounds very cool for vocals (i think that's what they used to do in old horror film like "poltergiest", have a listen to the little girl talk when she's on "the other side" :))

The only thing is the reverse reverb, but the guy actually plays an entire tune with this technique. I first thought it was played only with the right hand with 4 fingers tapping (I actually played some licks that way...) But I e-mailed him and he gave me the tab. I think that this use of harmonics is totally awesome!
