Finger Tapping

I am trying to play the finger tapping part to Eddie Van Halen's Eruption solo, I am hitting all the right notes but it sounds nothing like when he does it, Is my guitar out of tune for that, or am i tapping the wrong way?

It's hard to say without hearing or seeing you play it. Can you record a small audio/video clip?

Keep in mind that Eddie has his guitar tuned down 1/2 step, so if you learned the solo from a tab and are playing along with the song, it will sound terribly wrong :) Two ways to fix this: tune your guitar down 1/2 step or shift all the positions down 1 fret on the guitar.

If you're not referring to the tuning, are you referring to the sound? Tapping stuff like that requires great finger strength and the only way to develop that is to play the licks over and over, over and over, over and over again... start slowly so you can really hear what you're doing wrong.

Ya, no way of knowing what you are talking about without hearing it
