where did I go wrong
Hey yall, finally trying to learn to play the guitar after talking about it for decades. Love GT so far as it can work with my irregular schedules. Went through fundamentals 1 and 2, but must admit I went pretty fast. Now trying to start the country module... first lesson talks about the B7 chord; now I saw and went through a lot of lessons about chords but didn't see a one that talked about chords with numbers following them. Where did I go wrong?

I don't recall where it may be in the lessons, but you'll definitely want to get a chord book pretty soon so you have one place to look things up pretty quickly. There are also a few good websites. Try Googling "guitar chord finder" and I'm pretty sure you'll get one.
The "7" chords are very handy to know, particularly for blues, so you'll want to check them out.

Hi
We have a Chord finder application here in the GT site. However if you did the GF 1 and 2 quickly I strongly suggest you to go back to them. At the same moment you can follow some single lessons or songs before starting on the courses. Just my idea.

Hey Suthernborn,
The 7th chords are very useful in bluegrass, country, and other genres too. Basically to make a 7th chord, you add the 7th note of the scale. For instance, using an A major chord, you add a G note. One way this can be done is by lifting the ring finger to play the G string open, and the rest of the chord stays the same. The other way is to use a bar in the 2nd fret, and add the G note in the 3rd fret on the first string.
In some cases you may just add the 7th of the chord, like with a G chord. The G note is changed to the F note in the 1st fret on the 1st string.
G A B C D E F G A
I added the other A so you could see that it just repeats. These are not the notes of the scale, because the G scale has an F# in it. The 7th chords have a unique sound, and you should be able to tell which note fits. I hope this helps you, and let me know if you have any other questions.
