I've not upgraded to version 6 yet, I still have version 5. But, it does a good job and seems reasonably priced.

I am a big fan of powertab, been using it for most of my guitar life. Guitar pro is good, its definitely a step up from powertab. But non-the-less, I still prefer powertab simply because I used it so much, even though I could get a lot further with guitar pro. Cant teach an old dog new tricks sort of thing I guess :p
Do you by chance have an old laptop? Any relatively new laptop should be able to run powertab. If you have a newer laptop and powertabs simply just doesnt like your laptop, perhaps give guitar pro a shot. Definitely a good program.

+100 for Guitar Pro. Been using it for years. Can't get any better than this as far as I know (and if you can, then you'll most likely be paying for a program that does a lot more than what you need).
You're assuming the glitches are performance related according to the laptops hardware. Jpin109, what exactly do you mean by buggy? What problems are you having with it and have you tried reinstalling the program?

....unfortuntaly, I don't think I like it as much as 5. Maybe I just need to get used to it, but it's almost completely different.
The sounds are more "realistic", but I noticed that on a lot of my files I had saved, it changes all the clean tone sounds to sound like they are played with distortion. Also, I noticed that on some of the drum tracks, they are almost muted. Their volume is turned way down so you hear everything except the drums. You can turn them up, but it's annoying to have to do that every time I open the file.
I'll mess with it some more, but I'm still liking GP5 more right now. 6 is just really overly complicated it seams.
Edit: Rick, I think they have a trial version on their site. Maybe download it and see what you think. I'd like to know if you experience the same things I mentioned.

I might try it. Do you know if it wipes out GP5?

It shouldn't. It is a separate install. Especially just for a trial. Don't think they would wipe out your version.

No, I have both 5 and 6 installed. They are completely seperate from each other. Haven't used version 6 that much yet but I'm having a few glitches with 6 that I never had with 5.

Ya I uninstalled version 6. Didn't like it at all. Volume levels were set differently, for some reason there per pan settings that were locked, so I couldn't change which speaker the sound came from, plus the things I previously mentioned. Maybe it was just my download, but I wasn't impressed with 6. Seems like they tried to cram a lot of fancy stuff in, but they end up just being unnecessary for most users.
