As far as Guitar funamental 1 and 2. What would I get out of the free vs the update? I paid for this a year ago for 6 months without visiting the site once. I want to make sure I follow through before paying again. I think if I make it through 1 & 2 I have no problem paying.

Thanks

So what are you asking.....obviously the problem was:

I paid for this a year ago for 6 months without visiting the site once.

As for:

I want to make sure I follow through before paying again.

That's on you. Noone here can force you to follow through. You either do or don't.

In all, to do anything you wish to do, it's all about the follow through and more specifically; the will to really make it happen.

I tried playing guitar when I was 13 and 14 but it seemed too much like work. When I turn 17, I really want to play. I had a desire...not only was willing but desired to sit down and really play the thing. Nothing I worked at felt like work. I dug every minute and including the frustration of things I couldn't yet play. It was a matter of practice and reward for figuring it out. Then to be able to blast away with my amp pounding away at my chest when I could play well made me want to get even better.

I started playing in '82 and here I am years later, still enjoying the learning process.

The point is this, enjoy playing guitar if it is something you enjoy doing. If you think working through some of the stuff like F1 and F2 are road blocks, I'd ask if guitar is something you really want.

You may believe that guitar is something you want but you also want to see F1/F2 as challenges and hinderances.

I hope guitar is something you truly like and if you do, good luck with learning.

No its something I always wanted to learn. The reason for the failure the 1st time was juggling a newborn, daughters basketball and sons Taekwondo nights add on top of all that problems at home and my motivation to do anything was sucked out of me.

I guess I kinda of come off trying to be cheap asking the question in the first place lol. I do have reasons for asking though!

I still don't get what you are actually asking though.

It's understandable since you have responsibility and obligations to do. But I guess you could still have done something about it to not waste your money in the lessons and time that have past. But I do hope you could start now in learning guitar. Best of luck.
I wish they'd had electric guitars in cotton fields back in the good old days. A whole lot of things would've been straightened out. - Jimi Hendrix

Well, we always have time. I'm pretty sure you watched tv or a movie here and there in all that crazy schedule. You could have taken that time for guitar instead :p. We all do the same thing :)

I stutter-started. I signed up for a year (during one of the specials) and practiced for a month or two and then dropped it. Still, I renewed thinking I might try again someday and, shortly thereafter, a very good friend left his very good guitar in my hands to play with. That guitar and my friend's gesture were both inspiring to me. With a much better instrument, something I never thought I would play, I was motivated to go back to the Fundamentals course. A month or two later my friend offered to sell me the guitar...at a very reasonable price.

That all started at the end of February this year. Last week, I completed the Fundamentals course. I don't know if nine months is making good time or not but I'm pleased with my progress.

My point...sometimes there's a false start or two but it doesn't mean one can't finally make true progress. IMO, it's all about internal motivation and self-discipline...especially that motivation. :) Come to think about it, this story is just like my going to college story...minus the guitar. ;)
"It takes a lot of devotion and work, or maybe I should say play, because if you love it, that's what it amounts to. I haven't found any shortcuts, and I've been looking for a long time."
