Hi. I was wondering if anyone knows of a downloadable program with drills for sight-reading standard notation with the guitar. Any help would be appreciated.

Try this also - it covers the whole fretboard.

This is not a software but still unbeaten when it comes to learn sightreading on the guitar :

http://www.amazon.com/Modern-Method-Guitar-Volumes-Complete/dp/0876390114/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1273671744&sr=8-1

These are all 3 volumes. I just worked through the first one completly. And it really helped me a lot. But it is hard work.... as usual when you really want to learn something.

For this particular skill, it's not a matter of finding the best method but rather sticking to whatever method like and being consistent with it. when it comes to sight reading music, consistency is the most important thing.

Ya I just want to emphasize that no matter what method you choose to follow....NONE OF THEM WILL WORK if you don't practice constantly. Even if you take a break for a couple days, you can forget a lot. I've fallen into the bad habit of starting then stopping for a while, then having to go back and relearn. I've been on the damn first position for about a year because I am not being consistent in my practicing. I think most methods will work and you don't necessarily have to be picky about trying to find the best. They will all work if you just keep practicing. Like everything else you do on the guitar.

I've been using a book by Fredrick Noad called "Solo Guitar Playing". It is more for a nylon string guitar though. I've also started using the Berklee one mentioned earlier. That one has a TON of info in all 3 volumes. You won't finish the first volume for a loooooong time.

Yes, consistency is king. It took me a while to get this skill down to the level I want and I thinkt hat the reason I've been at it for so long is becasue I just don't really work on it every day like I should. I've got to be honest, just playing music is more fun :)
