What do these things do anyway? Are they compressers? Filters? Noise Gates? The heart of my rack system is an ADA MP-1. Could I benefit from adding one of these in my rack??

They simlpy create the illusion of having a brighter, clearer sound.
I used mine for a while, and totally hate it now. It's good for recording, but definately not for live use, in my opinion.
