depends on what your trying to achieve here.
sounds like your just running a scale, a patteren i too
find myself falling into from old habits.
sometimes its a good thing, again depending on
what your trying to achieve.
the reason i dont like stuff like this is it lacks
100% of any kind of feeling.
these days im trying to put more feeling into
my own playing. i want to move myself and others
with my music. i want myself as well as others to feel
what im playing. follow me on that?
its my opinion, and thats what it is....opinion,
when i hear a shredder type playing, i only remember the
last thing i hear him play. it all blends in after a while.
NOT KNOCKING THE SHREDDERS,
they do have their place.
now when i hear somebody bleeding out what they are playing,
i remember as much as i can of what they played. they moved me and
all those that were listening.
ok, for shredding, it wasnt bad at all. for feeling, not what im looking for.
another 80s metal fan.

you have some crazy fast fingers, tho those solos seem unmelodic and mechancical to me, i like the acoustic video best cause you slow it down a lil an it has some rythym an melody almost all of the elecrtric guitar videos sound almost identical to me.

but man i wish my fingers moved that fast

Electric/speed videos: Just looks like someone trying to show off how fast he can hammer on/pull off up and down some partial scales.

Actually all of the vids just look kind of like scales. Kind of feel the same way the other two posters do about putting some feeling into it.

Hi Nat..
Great job.. But the videos made it seem like we were watching practice..
The tunes in your player, acid jazz #3 and (acoustic cover) alternate were nice.. I'm also in agreement on the lack of feeling..

My favorite was your acoustic work, I share the others opinion of the electric parts. Yes you are fast, way faster then I will ever be I would wager but to be honest man your not doing anything with that speed except showcasing how fast you are with scale runs. I would love to see you put some of that shred in to a wicked solo, but not a 5 minute non stop solo. Sometimes it is what you do not play that makes the song memorable
God said to Abraham, “Kill me a son”
Abe says, “Man, you must be puttin’ me on”
God say, “No.” Abe say, “What?”
God say, “You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin’ you better run”
Well Abe says, “Where do you want this killin’ done?”
God says, “Out on Highway 61”

I would reiterate what the others have said about the mechanical nature of the shred stuff.

I think more to the point is not to just move around the scales but to structure something with the skill. If you listen to Steve Vai, while he can definitely shred, he also structures his stuff in to melodies, patterns and themes.

If you don't think in those terms, you will get the reaction here: 'It's nice but...'

Listen to Steve Stevens, Vai, Eric Johnson or most any instrumentalist shredder that's been around for a while, you'll notice that they build themes in to the playing.
