Bossa Nova lessons...........
As an unabashed fan of the early 60's bossa nova style, I quickly ventured over to the lessons. After trying to spread my finger over four frets, I realized I'm in big trouble. I get the chords and the rhythms, but am experiencing intense pain in trying to play them, not to mention the inability to reach that far. I'm not an ape with huge reach and can bar chords and so forth, but is my guitar right for this type of music? I have a steel string acoustic and am wondering if I need to switch to a nylon stringed classical to hit these notes? If so, what guitar would you recommend as I will not stop until I have learned this method! Thanks!

Hi kahunastev,
just my thought. Maybe you should post this in HP forum, since he did the tutorials.
Regarding the pain in your hand just check the threads on this very common problem. Please make sure that the pain is just because of the difficulty in fingering the 7th chords, don't underestimate possible injury while playing.
Regarding your guitar, you can play bossa, I think, with every guitar. But if you, like me, are really serious in learning this music I suggest you to get a classical nylon strings guitar. I am afraid this will make even more problems in terms of playability of chords, but the sound will be much much better and just like the real bossa. Just for this I bought recently a Variax 300, is a bit easier then my "classical" classical guitar and allow me tho change the tones from Flamenco to Classical. I am a supporter of Line 6, actually, and I play my Strat with a Pod XT Live, never with an amplifier.
Hope this helps.
Best regards
Carmine
