I think he was a guitar player. Always keeping that hand inside his jacket. Keeping his fingers warm and protected. Ready at all times for a mad lead solo. The evidence it pretty much incontrovertible.

I need to disagree. He was a percussionist. His hand was in there because he was beat boxin'.

If you look close you can see Ben Franklin and Tom Jefferson in the front row discussing techniques..

Funny you should mentioned that because Admiral Lord Nelson who is often pictured in a similar pose was also a guitarist.
