A friend and I just traded guitars.

He took my Jackson DXMG which had been modified with Duncan pups, and I took his Epiphone Les Paul Studio. I'd have to say that he probably made out a little better. Having said that, I'd have to image that LP can be upgraded. To be a nice little player.

However, I did keep the option to trade back.

Interesting. I wouldn't sell your side of the deal short. I have much lesser Epi, a "Special II", but the only thing I really don't like on it is the neck is a bit thick. I've never played a Jackson, though, so I couldn't compare.

What brought on this (I'd guess) spontaneous decision?
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.

Blink of an eye.

He was over saying that he liked it but really wanted a strat style. As mentioned, I've been wanting a LP. So it just blurted out. "Lets trade straight up".

The neck on the jackson is a bit thinner than the LP. Which is probably the one thing I like least about it. Really like the thinner necks.

Also, it's solid black. Kind of entertaining taking it apart and stripping it and seeing if I can get the mahogany woodgrain to look nice.

Funny... Neither one of us are sold on this trade yet. I just texted him telling him I wasn't sold on this trade, that I wanted to like the LP, but just wasn't. He said the same about the Jackson. He likes the tone of the Jackson but dosen't care for the neck.

Yeah... most likely. I really want to like this LP. But at the same time, I think part of my issue is, giving up my Jackson. Sure, it became the red headed step child of my guitars, but, it still had a place in my heart. It was my first guitar, plus I had upgraded the pups and LOVE that damn Dimarzio Norton I put in it.

You gave up your first guitar?! See, that I could do not while it was still remotely playable. With that in consideration, you may never get over it! :D

I know huh?

What I really need to do is get it back, get a nice gotoh bridge for it

That's almost half the price of the Schaller FR from StewMac. I have regretted that purchase since making it. =P I bought everything for the guitar from there and it cost me damn near $1k ffs.
