Hey, GT friends,
Does anyone know how to write a song about a broken leg? I was returning home from a jam session Tues. night and fell on my leg and broke my ankle. I guess you could say I'm lucky because a broken ankle is much better than a broken hip which could have happened... Especially at age 81... I am painfully recovering but I keep thinking that there's a country song in here somewhere... How about some cool thoughts??
God Bless,
Jim Blake

Did anyone say "Break a leg" before you went to the jam session.

Wow, I sure hope I am still playing guitar when I get to be your age! You must have seen tons of things in your life to write about. The spectrum of history that you have lived through has seen such incredible change in technology and lifestyle. I am sitting here trying to imagine what aviation for instance was like when you were a young man compared to today.

Write about that broken leg if you must, but I am thinking that there are lots more things that you could write about.

Please drink and fornicate responsibly,
Dan

Just sittin here dreamin of a better time
laid up like Jimmy Stewart in that Hitchcock story
don't get around much anymore

Least I'm not watchin a hideous crime
but I can't go seekin no love or glory
Just gimme a ride to the pain pill store

I guess I'll pick up the old git box
Maybe inspiration will strike me soon
They say hard times inspired great art

I'm enrolled in the school of hard knocks
So that should make for a creative boon
But all I want to do is let fly with a fart

Etc.... (my apologies to everyone that had the misfortune to read that).

thanks for all of the suggestions. I find them all useful in one way or another. Especially like the one about J. Stewart. My window view in not quite as graphic though... :)

Just be sure not to modulate during the process.

Throw in a couple lines about your dog and downing a few beers and how your wife left you and I think you'll have a hit. Anyway, get well soon, you're an inspiration.
