I am thinking about getting an effects pedal. Is the Zoom 707 a wise choice? Or can anyone recommend anything better for the same value?

I use a Korg AX1G and, except the slight noise, I have no complaints. It's better than any Zoom I've ever tried. Try Digitech's RP100 & RP200, they might be a bit more pricey, but they are advertised to model.

I don't have personal experience with Zoom gear, but I have noticed that a lot of our members are unhappy with them. DOD seems to get a lot of flack as well.

Both DigiTech and Boss (Roland) get better reviews.

Caveat emptor!

Those Zoom pedals blow! If you like a lot of effects, go with the Digitech series. They're easy to use, and the effects are awesome. However, the distortion sounds a little bit.... fake. I guess if you have the extra money lying around, get a dist. pedal. Also, look into those Boss GT-3 or Gt-5's. Those are really good. They aren't that much more complicated to operate. They use analog distortions, and the effects are equally as nice. That's my experience... try it for yourself!

I have done a little research and the highest recommended effects equipment(on a limited budget) seem to be the Digitech RP series and a product called POD. Both offer not only effects but amp and cabinet modeling. Good luck. I'd be interested in hearing what you decide and your results.

I have a Zoom 505 II pedal and I love it to death. Besides the effects, it has a tuner and you can plug a headset into it for practice purposes. What a rad piece of kit, everyone I know that HAS one loves it.
