Hi there,

Like the title says, could you suggest me an effect pedal as the first one.

I know it depends on what I want to archieve but suggest me something. Quickly I need something to have fun and start with it. I am somewhat a beginner who can play basic chords, some barre and know 3 or 4 easy songs plus some cool riffs.

I own an Ibanez GAX30 with a small Randall amp.

I can think of a Wah-wah but I am new in the world of effects. The make and model could help.

Thanks a lot

Well, what kind of music do you want to play. If rock, get a distortion pedal.
Perhaps a chorus pedal.

Another good pedal is a loop pedal. Mine can loop as well as has various drum beats that you can play along with...

My first was a wah wah, and I loved having that. But try for a multi-effects unit.

I second the multi effects...

A friend let me try his BEHRINGER V-AMP 2. Not a bad unit. They have a nice selection of amps to model. Some nice effects as well.

However, if you want to spend a little more money, the Line6 PODx3 is extremely nice!

Cool response guys, I take notes and will check for these pedal effects.

Anyone with other type, make and model?

Oups, I forgot. Yes, as you said basically rock. But metal is something I like also.

Thanks for your last post, Itsmesilly.

I Googled the following three units to find their respective official Web page and it seems very interesting. I put those in my favorites. I'll look also for price of course. It gonna be my first effect ever!

BEHRINGER V-AMP 2
Line6 PODx3
digitech RP250

I've also noted the ideas of a chorus pedal, loop pedal with drum beats, wah wah, multi-effects unit in general.

Very apreciated thread answers.

See you

my digitech RP250 does chorus as well as a whole bunch of other effects...has drum beats too...
if you can...go to a store and compare them all..talk to one of the sales guys...they are usually pretty knowledgable....try to find a bigger store which will most likely have them all to look at
good luck

Yah, probably its does a tones of effects. I keep note about buying a single effect pedal to start. But you guys seems more for a multi-effects even for the first. More expensive but more versatile.

when I was looking I was also checking out single pedals too...but some werent that much cheaper at all. I only spent $130 on my multi.

And since I didnt really know what I wanted...and Im just beginning.... I decided a multi was the way to go because it would give me a taste of everything...

then as I am learning and playing around I can get a better feel for what I like and get a specific pedal geared towards that.

Good. I think I'll go for a multi then! Thanks Itsmesilly.

A decent multi is probably a good idea. Most people start with the preset patches on their unit. Some never get past that point. Some learn how to tailor the settings to be more personal. Some use the multi to find out what they like, and then get separate pedals for each effect, in order to produce exactly the sound they want.

You gotta start somewhere, and the current crop of multi-effect pedals are a good way to go.

Good, that was my idea after a few posts here. And do you have a particular make and model of multi to suggest?
