Volume pedals Active or passive?

hi ive just baught an ernie ball volume pedal an active one but i dont have ative pickups would it be better if i baught the passive version? i was told by a music shop that it doesnt matter.

An 'active' device has a built-in amplifier. Other than that, if what you have sounds good to your ears, it sounds good. You do NOT need to get an active pedal to match active pickups, or a passive pedal for ppassive pickups. Mix-and-match according to your own taste.
