Greetings all, I wanted to say hello. I'm a new member to this website/forum. My experience begins and ends with the spelling of guitar. I'm as much of a beginner as I possibly can be. Hoping this site is all it looks to be and hoping in a years time, I have the same experience or more than if I had a personal one on one instructor. So, my best wishes to all and hoping to meet some nice people along the way. Have a great day all!

Hi Neal,

Welcome to Guitar Tricks! I think you will find a wealth of information here all about the guitar. If I can be of any help to you along the way, just let me know.

Best wishes,

I am in the same shoes as cchonos. 36 yrs old and bought my first guitar about 4 days ago. I have been completely satisfied with the early learning I have been able to aquire so far.

Best of luck to you.

Welcome to GT. I'm quite new here too but wanted to assure you that there is a wealth of quality lessons here. I had lessons as a kid and got nowhere, I had some lessons as a big kid (33) and didn't feel like I was learning anything. I've been on here a month or so and have actually started to feel like I've learnt something. No doubt others will say this but definately start with Fundamentals1 then 2. Stick with them even if you feel they're too basic, it's worth it in the end. I picked up more there than I ever did with lessons.

I also found rather than jumping straight into a course, I am doing Lisa M's finger picking and strumming tutorials first and they have really helped me start to improve chord changes.

Good luck.

M.

Another new person here,,, while recoving for some surgery last year, I walked into best buy to get the xbox and guitar hero game,, I ended up walking out and into a guitar store where I got a nice beginner guitar/amp for less. of course after I got back on my feet it just sat there,, So i've been playing around with it over the holidays and found this site, and now things make more sense... I spend most of my free time training for triathlons but I'm thinking I can get a few hours in a week to keep improving

Hey, I'm new also. I live over in London, England and I do not have any musical background what-so-ever! But on new years I vowed to learn and thusly chose the guitar, as it is the coolest instrument of all (of course). ;)

I'm on "Fundamentals 1" chapter 4 and have had my guitar for about 5 days now. I've spent most of my time just getting used to the guitar (strumming and fretting) and have been doing C, G, E major and A minor chords over and over (and over) again until I can get them down smoothly with muting also.

I'm also learning how to read music (I've already got tabs down), as my musical side is lacking quite completely. I've also been thinking about taking some lessons, but I'll hold off for now as guitartricks.com has been more than enough so far.

Hey. I am new to GT as well. Great site and I have been learning a bunch. Working with a live instructor as well and combination seems to be working well. Lisa McCormick and Chris Schlegel are great for beginners. More advanced lessons look cool! Can't wait to get there. KEEP PLAYIN' !!!
