Just got myself a better job, which means I have a lot more money to spend on gear. Today I bought a 200 watt Ampeg cabinet. Within the next month I will be getting new rack effects and such so I'll keep you guys updated. Anybody else gettin' new shiat?

I just got a 120 watt Blue Voodoo head (used), I was going to get a Vintage Club 4x12 cab (w/ Celestion Vintage 30s), but that fell throught, so I had my local music store order me a standard Blue Voodoo 4x12 slant cab. I might end up buying something else tomorrow, though, because I'm taking the 2 hour trip to a big music store (with a friend).

By the way, does anyone here have a brand reccomendation on super high gain 12AX7s and 6L6s? My Voodoo head sounds good, but the 2x12 Voodoo combo I had sounded better (I think the tubes in the head are old). Doesn't Mesa use Electro-Harmonics tubes? How do the Blue Groove tubes sound? Are Sovteks reliable?

I'm thinking of buying a new amp, like next week or something.
I'm thinking about getting the Peavey 5150 head, with a Marshall 2x12 (1936) cabinet.
(4x12's will follow soon)
Any oppinion about this?
Are there other good 2x12 cabs around the same price as the Marshall?

Of course i gotta hear every amp and cab the store has before i make my decision.

you might check out the Carvin Legacy 2X12 cab it has Celestion Greenbacks loaded in it for a good price.

Also, not many people ever consider 4X10 cabs but I've played through 4X10 (semi open back) cabs and the effect is really nice. The bottom end may not be what you're looking for but it is punchier and tighter than a cab loaded with 12s (generally speaking) and the highs seem a bit sweeter.

I've been thinking of mixing one of my rigs with one 4X10 cab and one 2X12

Just a thought.

I've had a Bogner Ecstasy for a little while now, and I just want to say that I can't find a Steve Vai or Joe Satriani shred tone ANYWHERE in that amp. The distortion is so muddy and there seems to be a lack of gain. It's not smooth at all. The clean channel is amazing, but for how much that thing cost, the distortion is horrible. It's incredibly frustrating.

I got my 4x12 Blue Voodoo cab last week (sounds really good with the right head settings), and I just ordered a BOSS GE-7 graphic eq which I'm going to run through the effects loop. So now my primary rig is:
Kramer Striker 422> Blue Voodoo fx loop out > Moreley Sapphire Flanger > Arion Digital Delay > Boss GE-7 > Voodoo fx loop return (and of course, the 120 watt head feeds into the 4x12 cab.

The last time I was in the studio, I ran an old Rockman Distortion generator straight into the board's seven band eq. With the eq dialed up right, the rig sounds like Master of Puppets with some extra sustain and harmonics.

I'm ordering a new guitar tomorrow, the floating tremolo setp is pissing me off on my striker 422 (it works fine, I just don't like floating trems). I'm going to order a neck through body Kramer Baretta (entirely back, hardware & all) with a fixed bridge, graphite nut, straght string pull headstock, 2 quadrails, and locking Gototh tuners. You can see it at www.musicyo.com , the model name is the Baretta FX404S (I think).

Been saving my pennies fora T.S.L 100watt marshall head, but i see in Carvins Mag that I can The Legacy full stack for just a couple hundred bucks more than the Marshall Head,or Carvin also has their M.T.S 3200,full stack, for about $150.00 less than just the Marshall head,is the legacy,or the mts 3200,comparable to Carvins old X-100b?Or should i just keep saving for the Marshall(i'll need to buy a speaker cabinet as well)?
