Marshal pedals.

Hey, the other day i played a marshal half stack those things are amazing! My question is: if i buy a marshal distortion pedal, can i get the same sound marshal amps have? I have a stratocaster and a crate amplifier.

Well, never actually played on a Marshall amp before,but i do own a Marshall JH1 Jackhammer Distortion pedal, and its my favorite toy. I can get a large range of different distortion and overdriven tones from it, and its extremely sturdy, in a full metal case. thats just my 2 cents

My personal experience with the marshall pedals (i've only tried the jackhammer) is kinda bad. I bought one of those new "tone lock" ibanez pedals, the smash box, and that so far is the most distortion i can get, and it has LOTS of settings, so i dont know if you want a recomandation (sorry about the spelling) i wont tell you to buy the Ibanez smash box but, make sure you try it next time, you'll be suprized.

Although there are a lot of amp/speaker emulators on the market today nothing substitutes for the real thing. My advice to you is save your money till you can afford what you really want. Don't waste it on "toys" if what you really want is the "real deal". I've been workin' my butt off this summer so I can finally complete my rack setup for my guitar, and I'm only a few paychecks away from having it. It took a long time but I already know it's going to be worth my while.

BadHorsie is right, there is no way you can get the half stack feel or sound wih a Strat through a 15 watt Crate practise amp.

However, until you can afford the real deal, get your kicks with something like the (Y'all don't throw stuff at me, Aight?) Zoom GFX 707. I know it's got a plastic body and some of the presets are as useful as an Austin Powers pick up line, but for 160.00 it can't be beat! I may have not spoiled my ear yet on a real Marshall Stack, and I certainly wouldn't want to record with this noisy little booger, but I've found that when yer crankin' and yankin', and the music's reachin', no one's looking down at my gear with a critical eye! And you gotta love the built in drum patterns for when the timekeeper fails to show. I hope I did'nt drift too bad off the subject....

Speaking of half stacks, For the past few days, I've taken my 120 Watt Blue Voodoo half stack out to a large blding and jammed with a few friends. I kept it cranked up between 7 and 9 most of the time..... freakin awesome.Nothing compares to the feeling of having around 100 decibles of guitar sound blasting into your chest.
Do you crank your Blue Voodoo up often, BadHorsie?

Marshall Pedals are probably the best for kind of a more vintage sound. I find it best when playing moderately overdriven Hendrix and SRV tunes. But it also works well with metal and punk rock. It may not have a very intense metal sound like the digitech metal master (which i also recommend) but its versitile enough if you just want one distortion pedal. :cool:

Sometimes old threads are cool to revive like the "What category Do you Fall Into" Thread. I like to see where people are now as opposed to five years ago. I believe that one was my first ever post....memories.
