I have been a fan of Johnny's since the early 70's. This article is a nice review of a strong Bluesman who really deserves more recognition for his achievements than he has received.

Thanks for the great bio. Looks like Winters has paid his dues. He's obviously been a major blues talent over the decades. His brother's no slouch either...

I think Steve Martin summed it up best in the movie The Jerk.
Taj: You wanna, wanna come in and sing some blues?
Navin (Martin): No thanks Taj. There's something about those songs. They
depress me.

Great write up on Johnny Winter, Looks as though you did your homework!!! Be for you know it you could be writting for Rolling Stone. He and his brother both have come a long way over the years. We had the luck to see and hear him just about a year ago in a small tavern here in north crntral Mass. It was a great time and sound. he's line a fine wine gets better with age.

It's so good to see that he hasn't been forgotten. The man and his style are legendary, and that is because he plays from the heart. Johnny may never know how many lives he has touched with his music, but I am honored to be one of them.

I have heard the BB King story many times and it still makes me smile. Just Awesome!

Johnny has been my favorite (caucasian) blues guitarist since my brother introduced me to him back when I was in middle school. I used to sneak off with his copy of "Captured Live" and crank it up.

Heard an intro to a piece for NPR the other day where the guy reviewed Elvin
Bishop's latest offering, "The Blues Rolls On". He declared something to the effect that he was completely prepared to dislike this album basically because a white guy playing blues isn't the way it's supposed to be.
Johnny Winters, Elvin Bishop, Clapton, BB King, Buddy Guy, Howlin' Wolf, SRV....wise up ya'll, blue ain't a color.
