I wrote a song and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on how to figure out what type of chords fit the lyrics (i.e you won't hear a heavy metal song about heart break).

I'm saying I wrote some lyrics but I'm trying to figure out what chords to play over them. And I was wondering if anybody have any advice?

Come up with a melody for your lyrics. Then hum the melody as you play different chords and see what fits best.
Can't a Captain look at a Queen?
