I am trying to learn "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd and on an electric guitar, strumming seems to be a bit more difficult than on acoustic. What shape should you form with your fingers to strum up and down?

Can you give a more detailed explanation of the difficulties you are experiencing?

Do you have problems hitting all the strings when strumming?

A little more information will help me to isolate the problem.

Strumming down with a pick on electric is not that hard for me to get a hang of, but coming back up, so I am going in a motion of down,up,down,up, etc....... is a little weird. Maybe I am holding the pick wrong, I have seen many ways to hold the pick. I also experience this without using a pick. What is the best way to strum down and up with just your fingers?

I use a thinner pick when strumming a lot and use a thicker one for practicing scales and such. I personally like the fender thin (Plus the one I have looks really cool lol) for strumming and the Jim dunlop m for picking. I guess Ill have to settle on one eventually. I guess my point is maybe try a thin pick until you get the hang of it if you aren't already
