I posted this a few days ago as an instrumental but deleted it & decided to go back and jam a lead to it instead.
Done on a Mac Core 8 using Cubase 4.3 and a Roland Guitar Synth.
Drums done with Battery 3 and a Yamaha Drum Pad
Bass is an ARP2600 playing an arpeggio.
Keyboards/Strings/other stuff is either Halion or a loop of some kind.
Harmonies were done on 16 tracks then copied 4 times and panned.
Guitar is a Gibson 1975 L6S Deluxe through a Boss GT-8 and patched directly into the computer.
Acoustic is a Yamaha Eterna.
Classical guitar was something I bought off eBay and it was missing a string but hey..only $40
Guitar Synth is a 1984 Roland GR700
Mic is a Rode NT-1
Mixer is a Behringer MX802A
The ending harmony/string thing is kinda tagged on cause it's the beginning of the next song.

... just in case the previous version without the lead was better...

Groovy, groovy. I definitely liked the version with the lead more.

Your distorted tone is my favorite thing. I didn't really like the clean tone on this track, it sounded a little muddy to me. Great playing and all. This may not be an appropriate place to ask, but do you have a tab lying around for the Moog Boog?

yeah, I totally agree. I was gonna go back and try to EQ it today. If that fails I'll redo it with a different patch.
The only tab of MoogBoog I ever did was the one for the Guitar Tricks lesson years ago.

The rest was just too exhausting to think about..all I remember is it took hours and I had this huge headache afterwards.
I was gonna ask Jon #2 if he would do it, but I think it might be a little much to ask.

So..isn't anybody gonna mention the timing problems on the lead guitar track?
I figured at least somebody would notice it by now and say something.

You've been watching too many re-runs of Miami Vice haven't you. That totally could be off of the soundtrack for one of those shows. :p
Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance.

eek. omg, don't tell me I'm going back into 80's mode again.
I thought I'd gotten that outa my system already.
Now that ya mention it, I do remember reading that it was Jan Hammer's birthday a couple of weeks ago and thinking about some of the music he used to do for that show. I bet ya anything that's what's been in the back of my mind while working on this thing.
jeez. I've been watching Green Acres for the last few days. Hate to think what the next song's gonna sound like.

You say that like this is some kind of music forum.

nah..just meant I had major latency problems so I had to manually drag the guitar tracks into beat and guess where they should be. I figured it was really noticeable and people would be saying hey man, the guitar's outa beat.
Just trying to figure out if I'm being over critical or whether to redo em.

Honestly, the lead is so high in the mix it's hard to tell. I'd say, though, that I think I hear what you're talking about. More in the early parts of the solo than later. Maybe the first 20%.

Really?
man....I thought I was being conservative with the volume.
It's just a headphone mix right now so maybe if I do a bunch more EQing to to scoop out some space for the lead to sit, instead of boosting and compressing it to make it audible might help....plus getting my monitors fixed. (blew em again :)
The timing problems, blah... there's three or four places where it's really obvious and it makes me cringe every time.
I finally got the M-Audio Firewire 410 so I could redo em but then I realized
I don't have enough Firewire ports so now I gotta wait for a Firewire hub that's outa stock everywhere within 100 miles of here.
Not to mention gettin a longer friggin cable.
All they included with the thing was this 18" little Firewire cable so you have to lie the thing on the floor next to the computer.
Like jeez... companies are getting chintzy with cables these days.
