Sounds like you're off to a good start.
What I would like to bring your attention to is Percussion and how it plays the roll within a piece.
Here's a simple progression by Frank Marino called Dragonfly, listen to how the change in tempo adds to the song.

Here's another, different genre, but this song says it all; Listen to Bill Ward completely rule over this song, using what looks like a 5 piece toy drum set.

Now view the song again with a huge Tama set and no where near the same drive or guidance.

I liked it a lot, Porterbt2! It has a lot of potential.

I liked the progression a lot (the same as the song Kryptonite, but your take on it was different and creative).

Is this planning on being an instrumental song or one with lyrics? If instrumental, I recommend coming up with a simple melody that the listener can identify with that you can repeat 2 or 3 times throughout the song. It'll act similar to a chorus, and bring unity in the song.

I liked the 2 solos. Very tasty, nice guitar work.

Overall, well done. Keep on working at it.

sincerely,
Justin Armstrong
