I've had one heck of a time trying to find good tabs. Sure, I can find free ones out there that are half-finished, tossed together, or basically not worth the pixels on my screen.

The only other option is to buy the actual book. Granted, I really don't have a problem paying for tabs, but I don't wanna buy a $20.00 book just for one song.

Does anyone out there have any good suggestions?

Will the professionals here be willing to spend their time tabbing out something for resale? Work with the record companies? SOMETHING?!?!?

Sorry... I'm just so frustrated.

I just looked for a Megadeth tab, for A tout le monde (spell check that), and I ^&##$ you not, when it came to the lead solo, the tab person wrote..

"Uh... just ignore this part"

WTF?!?!

Have you tried powertab? Download the app here and then search for the tabs here. I've found it to be pretty accurate - certainly more so than anything else I've seen.

....and welcome to GT :)

I have found online tabs to be helpful only as a starting place. You have to rely on your ear to determine the exact chords and individual notes. The online tabs are terrible, but training your ear will help you in the long run. When I am trying to learn a new song, I will listen to that song all day wherever I am. I learn the words, tune, and isolate the different parts sometimes before I even try to play it.

It would be nice if you could just turn off the tracks that you are not interested in, but you can't do that since the unmixed version is not available. So, you have to train your ear to hear the chords and notes and the changes in the song. Listen to the other instruments and work in your playing to fill in some of these other instruments that will be missing from your version. It takes a lot of practice, but as you progress it becomes easier and easier. You may not need any tabs at all.

I still have trouble with it, but I also rely on my friends to help. That's one of the nice things about this site. You have friends here that are always willing to help.

Good Luck!

With the strict compliance ordered by the NMPA to shut down unauthorized Free Tab sites, I doubt that most qualified artists from this site would Tab out something without permission to do so.. Especially not for resale...........
Most of the large Tab Sites operating presently are not threatened by US Law (Sites Located in Russia, etc....).......
There are authorized sites that sell Tab/Sheet Music by individual song titles. Just hope that they have the exact song you want as a single. Regardless, I personally don't buy Tabbed material. Tabs have a value and are used by many players and play song pieces from them. However, there is a price that's paid by those who rely heavily on following the numbers for proper finger placement. I relate it to "Painting by Numbers" an Artist Paints a scene, Then the numbers show non-artists how to paint a copied version. The Price paid is not related to learning Theory, reading music or knowing the name of every note on the fretboard. A lot of players rip it up without knowing much about Theory, which means they have an incredible trained ear guiding them.
The price paid usually resorts to a lack in the art of Transcribing.
Transcribing is difficult in the beginning and becomes a skill that develops a player into an artist. The Tab author needs the skill in transcribing to write the tab properly.

Sounds like there's nothing I can do. Also sounds like another 'napster' style situation.

Can't the mod's here strike a deal with this so called music association (nothing more than a racket imo... actually... it IS a racket)

I wouldn't mind paying a couple bucks for a quality piece of tabbed work, which is about the going rate anyways if you break it down.

Not to mention the fact that these companies would be making MORE money cause they no longer have printing costs.

It's a win/win situation as far as I see it. Someone here get the ball rolling.

Meanwhile, I struggle along with crappy renditions.... Maybe I can slow the song down in Sonar. hmmm....

You get what you play for. Don't expect to get something that's worth having for nothing.

If you can slow the song down, it will definitely help. There is an interesting tool. I don't think it's worth the money, but then I don't have your problem.

If I were you, I would just play the songs that I can get tabs and info on and train you ear. You will find that it's not really all that hard. You just have to know your guitar and know the song (melody, beat, key, etc.). You can also, get an instructor to teach you everything you can handle including certain songs.

Good luck!

The tabs in Guitar World are pretty accurate, I d/l a torrent a little while ago that had all the tabs from like 95 to present.

I don't think his question implicated that he wanted your views on tabs and improv. HA :p But I like how when you post you always add a little discussion to it, its amusing to read. Meh That is all.
