Minor Key

Dr. Marako Marcus did a lesson on finding the key to a song in the theory section. i understand how to find the key through his 3 ways, but when the key is minor, say, "E minor," how would i find that?

Would that be Eb(flat) {since its a minor} on the first string when i'm trying to find the root of the "Boxed Shaped Scale," or not?
