Use of pedals with Vox Valvetronix

Hi,

I have a Vox Valvetronix AD30VT and was wondering firstly if it is possible to use seperate effects pedals with it? and secondly is there any point? i.e. would a seperate distortion pedal be any better than the built in effects?

Yes, it is possible to use any effects pedal with pretty much any amp (don't know the rules on tube driven pedals.) The point of using an Overdrive or Distortion pedal can be for a boost for solos, or just coloring of either channel. Built in effects are nice, but pedals usually sound a lot better.
