Hey people,

The name's Cam. Brand new here. I'm a 34 year old Aussie guy, living in Texas. I have been playing guitar, singing & writing for over 17 years. I play & write in acoustic, folk, acoustic rock, rock & metal styles alike.

I've been a rabid KISS fan since I was 5. I adore the music of Matthew Good, Pink Floyd, The Tragically Hip, Neil Young & way too many others to list. For a fill list you can visit my My Space page. Pics of all my guitars & other groovy crap there too.

My guitar heroes & greatest inspirations are Ace Frehley, David Gilmour & three old & dear buddies of mine from way back.

I own 8 guitars:
* An old black & white Hondo Strat Copy that was my first ever guitar (now sanded down to wood & in pieces) lol

* A blonde 1974 Fender Strat with David Gilmour EMG pickups in it that sounds like an absolute dream!

More to follow....it won't let me post too many images in one post.

* A Norman handmade solid-top six string acoustic which was the very best AU$300 I ever spent! God I love this guitar!

* A Gibson 1968 Custom Authentic Les Paul Custom - it's one of the aged babies from the Gibson Custom Shop with the Burstbuckers in it. Awesome sound!

I also have a really nice little nylon string classical guitar too that sounds just gorgeous

I'm a little addicted to guitars. lol
I have another at least 4 guitars that I would buy right now if i had the money. I really REALLY REALLY want one of those gorgeous McPherson acoustics. They look stunning, have some incredible features & sound amazing. Check this one out.

Two Les Paul's is not enough, so I am stinging for an early 70's tobacco sunburst - just like Ace used to play back in the early days!

I'd also love one of these Gibson J-200 Jumbo bodied beauties. Suuuuch an awesome huge sound!

ok, I'm done! lol

I have a bunch of Boss Stomp Boxes, a Digitech RP21-D guitar effects processor (although I pretty much use Guitar Rig 2 for all my effects these days), a Yamaha AW16-G digital recording unit (although I have been recording on my PC with Logic Audio Platinum 5.1). Unfortunately I am only playing through a little 15 watt Marshall right now (great little amp, but it doesn't go to 11!). I wanna get a Marshall TSL 100 stack.

Now....where did I put that winning lottery ticket?!?! lol

Sorry about all the posts.....just intended to make one.
I look forward to chatting to some like minded guitarists in here.
Thanks for reading. :)

hey there! :) I am aussie too.. and I like you have the EMG DGS-1 Davig Gilmour pro series pickups.. but sadly my strat is only a Jordan brand but it still sounds great.. :) I only have 3 guitars.. my other electric is a epiphone gibson SG thing and my electric-acoustic is a Martinez.. as you can see I tend to go for a mid-range priced guitar and then upgrade it with bits and pieces.. I ripped out the factory epiphone pickups and threw in some rather pricey D'Margio (I can never spell that correctly.. sorry) humbucker pickups..

It always makes me wonder why anyone would spend thousands of dollars on a single guitar, not that it's a bad thing.. I just wonder why.. if the answer is simply "because I can".. then that makes sense.. or "this particular model, of that particular type, of that particular year, of that particular etc etc etc".. that also makes sense.. but yeh.. thousands of dollars... boggles the mind..

Hey man, thanks for replying. What part of Oz do you reside in?

I understand your call on the midrange priced guitars then upgrading them yourself. That's what I want to do with my Fernandez. I'm gonna get a custom air-brush paint job on it & put the Zakk Wylde EMG's in her....along with some other mods.

She will be a cranker!

As for the expensive guitars....you really (in most cases) get what you pay for.
But in my research I have come to discover that the big names (Gibson, Fender etc) are not the holy grail of guitars.

I mentioned McPherson acoustics...also go check out Ed Roman Guitars & check out some of the axes he endorses & sells. In particular check out Jet Guitars. True things of beauty!

Welcome to Guitartricks! Those are some sweet guitars you've got...I especially love the strat in the first post and especially love the Guild 12-string.

Welcome to GT Ozz... :)

Nice collection... I'm into the 80's inspired super-strat end of the market, so I'm with you on getting a soloist!
