The Wangcaster is just wrong.
The other guitar on the other hand is way, way cool.

Ok. Here is the beer guitar.

Here is another one you might like. I just finished it. Eventually I will re-pot and then probably sell it. And make another. Anyone want one?

Also Equator I checked your bandlink and noticed you had a spider II amp. How do you like it? I was thinking of getting one of those.

Hey Tim, welcome to guitartricks man, good to have you here.
I really like your custom guitars, its so cool what you can do with them.

I disassembled my guitar yesterday because I don’t like the color of it and I want to paint it and change the pickups.
So, my question is what is the best way to remove the old paint, and what type of paint should I buy to custom paint my guitar?
Any other information or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Regarding the Line 6 Spider II amp…I take it with me when I go to teach guitar and for recording at home. It works for me, because it has the basic FX and EQ. But if you are into gigging or playing in large rooms, this is not the amp for you. IMO

Again, welcome to GT bro.

I'm Sorry I did'nt get back but I did'nt notice that there was a page 2 in the thread.
Ok, first, paint removal can be done by sanding or paint stripper. Do not sand too deep. The stripper is effective but messy. Either way sucks.

There are alot of factors to consider when choosing a paint. What did it have before, what is your sanding sealer compatible with, what kind of spray equipment do you have? and a multitude of other ins and outs. I can't really give you a solid answer. If you take it down to bare wood you can use what ever you want ie: nitrocellulose or an acrylic laquer and so on.
There is a guy that sells an E-book about doing a factory finish with spray cans. This is very in depth and well worth the investment. Google it and it should pop up. J Gleneki is the author
Also I am not painting my guitars. Those are real labels and or scraps of paper.
I would also suggest you get any new hardware pickups ect. and assemble it BEFORE you apply a new finish to see if it all fits. I can't tell you how many times I have had to redo a whole finish because someting did'nt fit and I had to modify something.
go to this site. http://groups.msn.com/southernvermontmusic On that page scroll down to Zyons dream guitars. This is a forum that has much discussion on this topic. I think you will find a lot of answers there. I post tutorials there a lot.

Thanks Tim.
My guitar is now sanded to bare wood and I have put a Grain filler on it, tomorrow I’m gonna apply a clear sanding sealer.
I’m planning on using aerosol lacquer and finishing with clear gloss lacquer.
Thanks again for the helpful advise.

Thanks for the comment on the wild thing guitar. Its my travel guitar as it does'nt need a case. Its a cheap chinese strat but I took the time to do a really good setup on it so I actually really enjoy playing it and the fur is very plush. Its like playing a teddybear. I have used it live and and it sounds OK for the cheapness of the electronics, but for just banging around its #1. I did it to go with a tattoo I have. Here is another. Solid Mahogany set neck Explorer with a Bill Lawrence L-500-xl in the bridge position. I painted the pickguard graphics on the pickguard and headstock, and of course a set of my skull knobs and matching skull cigarette holder on the headstock.
