So I was doing random music searches on myspace and came acroos this girl Tal Wilkenfeld. She's 21 and from Australia, and has basically been around with all the greats. I've caught youtube clips of her jamming with Jeff Beck, Marcus Miller, and have heard of her playing with Chick Corea and the Allman Brother's too. She's basically a female version of Victor Wooten. Well, here's a clip. Anyone else like her or heard of her? I currently think she's producing the greatest jazz/funk thing to ever enter my ears. And could it get any better, she's played with my idol. Derek Trucks! :D With no further adue.

Well I had a listen but I'm not much of a bass-solo fan so I didn't get much out of that clip I'm afraid.. I did get side tracked though and found a nice version of Clapton playing Layla live. :)

Shnice. I gotta say I have a thing for a good smooth bass solo. I dunno what it is, but ever since I heard Victor Wooten, I've kinda adapted a keen ear for it.

I simply love the start of "Wherever I May Roam" (Metallica) and it's mainly due to the drumming and bass work.. so while I am not a huge fan of bass playing or drumming for that matter, I do appreciate it in its own right.
