Daniel, Congrads on the new purchase. Just get familiar with the different tones you find for now as you dabble around. Then memorize the order of notes in the C Major Scale;;;; C-D-E-F-G-A-B (and it starts over again with C. So, it's C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C-D-E-F-G-A-B-,ETC), even though you may not be able to play it yet. Trying to tackle the understanding on how a guitar is tuned your first day, will be difficult for someone to explain with an impact.
Just remember that music begins with the Major scale and after you learn the fundamentals of that, other theories will relate from there.
Don't spray chemicals on your guitar, just clean it with a soft cloth.
The 6 strings are common to this order.
Low (thickest) = 6th string
High (thinest) = 1st string
Letter notes of strings from low to high =
E = 6th
A = 5th
D = 4th
G = 3rd
B = 2nd
e = 1st
A saying to remember them by is;
Elephants-And-Donkeys-Got-Big-ears (E-A-D-G-B-e)
