I don't know if this is the right place to post this sry if its not, but my question is what should i practice. Ive been playing for 9 months now so i dont know very much. And theres an overwhelming amount of stuff to learn. I hate trying to learn songs off of screwy tab sites. And theres just so much on this website i dont know where to start. I want to practice more. Im open to all styles of music if that helps any and i prefer blues, rock, and metal. Please help!

Thats kind of a broad question to ask if we really don't know how much you know already. In 9 months of playing your still a beginner, so Id stick with the basics and do a lot of finger/picking exercises. They might seem boring, but you HAVE to do it if you want to progress as fast as possible.

As far as learning songs, its a great way to put what you know to the test. Start with easy songs of course, or even hard songs but take them SLOOOOWW. Tabs get annoying after a while if your just reading them, but Id look into getting Guitar Pro (http://www.guitar-pro.com/en/index.php). It's so awesome its not even funny.

There's two places on GT that I always suggest

The Tutorials section
http://www.guitartricks.com/tutorials.php

The Technique section
http://www.guitartricks.com/techniques.php

What is great about the tutorial section is that you can sort it by style. This helps a lot to get around the many tutorials available.

Then, the technique section is kinda of your goto place when you get stuck in a tutorial. If let's say you are trying out one of Doug Fearman's blues tutorial and he does a lot of bending. You can go to your technique section and look up some lessons on bending.

By going thru the tutorial section you'll also find the instructor that covers the style you wish to learn. You can then go to their section and look at all the lessons/tutorial they've made.

I hope this helps you get the most out of GT.
