As far as learning songs, its a great way to put what you know to the test. Start with easy songs of course, or even hard songs but take them SLOOOOWW. Tabs get annoying after a while if your just reading them, but Id look into getting Guitar Pro (http://www.guitar-pro.com/en/index.php). It's so awesome its not even funny.

Thats kind of a broad question to ask if we really don't know how much you know already. In 9 months of playing your still a beginner, so Id stick with the basics and do a lot of finger/picking exercises. They might seem boring, but you HAVE to do it if you want to progress as fast as possible.
